Welcome to our Website
Castle Camps is located in the very SE corner of Cambridgeshire, approximately 15 miles from the city of Cambridge but less than 1 mile from the intersection of the county with both Suffolk and Essex. The closest towns are Haverhill (Suffolk) and Saffron Walden (Essex). The 2021 census recorded a population of 645 within the parish of Castle Camps.
The village bowls club was formed in 1937 with the current compact bowling green located behind houses on the High Street in the centre of the village, in a quiet, but not always easy to find, setting.
The club currently has between 30-35 active members made up of players from both the local community and surrounding villages, including Haverhill. We compete in four leagues: the Cambridge and District Bowls League; the Steeple Bumpstead Bowls League; the Spackman Pairs League; the North Essex Federation. In addition we organise a number of friendlies throughout the season. You can find more details about these leagues and our current results and league positions by clicking on the Leagues tab at the top of this page.
We are a friendly club with members of all ages, so if you would like to give bowls a try, are looking for a team to join if you are new to the area, would like to visit us, or have any other questions regarding bowls or the club, please get in touch using our Enquiries email address below.
